The loch is almost entirely
surrounded by trees and produces great insect life.
The main body of the loch is about 500meters wide
with an island in the north west of this main body
which is a great spot. There is also a narrow
finger-like bay on the northeast of the loch which
is dotted with lily's and weedbeds that produces
some great sport fishing.
Boat fishing gives the best
opportunity for a catch as there are not many areas
suitable for bank fishing. There are no noticeable
problematic areas for boats either, making it safe
and accessible all round. Also, due to the
surrounding trees, shelter is very rarely breached
so good drift conditions are common. Rising fish
will be seen on most days to keep the anglers
attention and concentration, making this a great
sporting loch.
Access is from the A846, Bridgend to Port Askaig road.
Turn off at Ballygrant village, take the Mulindry road
and bear left after 500m. Follow the sign post to the
kennels, where cars can be parked. The loch is a short
downhill walk which leads you to the boathouse, where
there are two well fitted out boats available for hire.
